  • 15 countries represented at IEA World Energy Outlook event in Brisbane, co-hosted by UQ

    The University of Queensland, Centre for Coal Seam Gas and the UQ Energy Initiative, co-hosted the 5th IEA Unconventional Gas Forum at the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre On 24 February 2017. More than 75 delegates from 15 different countries participated.

    IAH (the International Association of Hydrogeologists) is hosting the first IAH Queensland branch event this year on Wednesday, 15 February, at QUT. The topic is the new 3D Water Atlas, presented by Associate Professor Sue Vink from UQ's Centre for Water in the Minerals Industry.
  • UQ Centre for Coal Seam Gas has entered into an agreement with the internationally accredited training provider Fendley Skills Development

    International well-control training now offered at UQ Long Pocket

    The UQ Centre for Coal Seam Gas has entered into an agreement with the internationally accredited training provider Fendley Skills Development, who are now offering their internationally certified well-control courses at UQ’s Long Pocket campus in Indooroopilly. Yesterday, the first engineers from the oil and gas industry started their training.

  • Foundation CMG visit

    The president and two fellow members of the not for profit CMG Reservoir Simulation Foundation visited the Centre. In conjunction with the visit an Onshore Gas Student Research Expo was held.

  • The China-Australia Academy of Unconventional Petroleum Research

    The China University of Petroleum-Beijing and The University of Queensland have established a joint CBM/CSG international research academy (The China-Australia Academy of Unconventional Petroleum Research). This research academy will investigate industrial challenges present in both China and Australia to develop potential research solutions.

  • Coal seam gas review paper published

    The Centre has published a review paper on unconventional gas in Queensland, which explores aspects of gas production ranging from technical challenges to water management, social considerations and the regulatory environment.
