The University of Queensland (UQ) nows boasts it own Student Chapter (UQGS) within the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG).
Geophysical students at UQ's School of Earth and Environmental Sciences recently applied for the establishment of a SEG Student Chapter, and the application was approved by SEG end of June.
This means that UQ is now one of eight Australian universities with a SEG Student Chapter.
This new network will enable like-minded individuals to get together and share their interest in geophysics, and it will further opportunities for leadership, achievement and idea development.
UQGS is open to geophysical students studying at The University of Queensland to actively participate in initiatives and projects promoting the science of geophysics.
An official website is already under construction and will be up soon. Here, you will be able to read about the benefits of UQGS membership, objectives and activities.
SEG is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1930, supporting 27,000 members from 128 different countries. Most members are involved in petroleum exploration, but some are also involved in application of geophysics methods as well as environmental and engineering challenges etc.
