Gas & Energy Transition Research Centre
Misaki Matsui
Senior Research Assistant
Biography
Misaki Matsui, working under Dr. Julie Pearce at UQ Gas & Energy Transition Research Centre, investigates the geochemistry and hydrogeology of carbon sequestration in the Great Artesian Basin's aquifers, and examines the associated environmental impacts.
Her work centres on gas-water-rock reactivity, analysing chemical interactions using ICP-OES/MS, XRD, SEM-EDS and stable isotopes, with support of K. Baublys and G. Dawson. Through this analysis, she aims to understand the chemical interactions that occur during carbon storage and their potential consequences for groundwater quality.
She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons), majoring in Chemical Engineering, from the University of Queensland.
